Pist Protta 97
Book launch, On-site
HEIRLOOM invites you to the launch of Pist Protta 97, an issue dedicated to Guttorm Guttormsgaard’s Archive. A self-organized art institution based on the unique collection of artist Guttorm Guttormsgaard (1938–2019) and the distinct communication project he developed around his collection. The archive presents an alternative narrative, artistic publications, and experimental communication. It is based in the old Blaker dairy in Lillestrøm municipality, Norway. More about the archive can be found here.
The editorial team of Pist Protta says the following about this issue: “In the new Pist Protta issue no. 97, we explore the artist's archive and examine how the artist as a collector differs from other collectors. As a creative artist, there are specific criteria for what is collected and how the collection is perceived. Guttorm Guttormsgaard was no exception. Guttormsgaard’s Archive contains many categories of objects that are not immediately associated with a traditional art collection – and their interconnections are not always immediately comprehensible. The artist's archive does not emerge for the artist to possess a complete collection of works from a specific period; rather, it aims to provide new inspiration for the artist and expand the perspective of the artistic work.”
Issue 97 includes contributions from H.C. Andersen, Jesper Fabricius, Guttorm Guttormsgaard, Jakob Jakobsen, Tiril Haug Johne, Åse Eg Jørgensen, Ellef Prestsæter, and Jesper Rasmussen. Lillebet Foss and Rudolf Broby-Johansen also make appearances in the magazine.
One of the contributions is an excerpt of a conversation between Guttorm Guttormsgaard, Ellef Prestsæter, and Jakob Jakobsen. The whole recording of this can be found here.
