HEIRLOOM center for art and archives is happy to host the book launch of AT LÆRE AT GØRE – Learning to Do. At the launch the publication will be sold at a reduced price.
This eclectic collection of texts, edited by visual artists Anne-Mette Schultz and Signe Frederiksen, revolves around artistic education and pedagogy, with a particular interest in the interactions between institutions and artistic work.
The book’s central part is the interview What Laurence Rassel Makes Us Do, a portrait of the institutional practice of the Belgian curator and pedagogue, Laurence Rassel, including her work as a director of the art school École de recherche graphique (Erg) in Brussels.
As a context to this conversation, four original contributions by visual artists Felis Dos, Katrine Dirckinck-Holmfeld, Pia Rönicke and Stefan Pedersen form a subjective and local cartography of a form of counter-education that investigates: how can an artist do? How can an artist teach? How can the institution function critically and take the consequences of the work produced within its framework?
AT LÆRE AT GØRE – Learning to Do – hopes to inspire conversation, discussion and teaching for anyone interested in thinking critically about the institutions of art.
The publication is published by Aleatorik and supported by New Carlsberg Foundation, The Danish Arts Foundation and The BKFs Copyright Fund.
